Desvres
Recent archaeological excavations confirm that in the 17th century, interesting glazed pottery was produced there, but it was not until 1762-1764 that Maître Jean François Sta, a notary in Desvres, established the first Desvroise pottery. In the XIX th century, François-Joseph Fourmaintraux, settled in Desvres, whose establishment marked the beginning of a real earthenware dynasty.
From these first factories developed in Desvres a veritable fabric of factories, which employed several hundred workers.
The factories Fourmaintraux-Courquin, Jules and Emile Fourmaintraux then Masse and Géo-Martel produce countless pieces of tableware, plates, dishes and other shaped items, inspired by the most famous factories.
