Nils Thorsson (1898-1975)
Swedish-Danish ceramic artist and designer, Nils Johan Thorvald Thorsson has created a prolific work for ceramic manufacturer Royal Copenhagen. Thorsson was the most prolific designer in the factory, designing at least five of the company's best-known production lines, including Solberg (1930s); Marselis (Aluminia, 1950s), an elegant but affordable line for everyday use; Tenera (1960s); Baca (1960s), with very detailed and complex relief patterns; and Diana (1970s). His work is often presented as an example of mid-century Danish modernism in the field of design and ceramics.
