Accolay (Yonne, France)
The potters of Accolay or the story of a great community adventure started in 1944 by a group of four friends all students of Alexandre Kostanda . A first bell kiln allows the manufacture of jewelry and ceramic buttons. In 1945, Christian Dior ordered 300 for his “New Look” collection. It was the beginning of a success story which ended in 1983. For more than 20 years, a type of pottery flourished in Accolay combining the diversity of objects - masks, jewelry, toys, etc. - and that of materials - ceramics, glass , plant fibers…– and combining aesthetics with “Zazou” humor.
