Jean Austruy (1910-2012)
A graduate of the School of Decorative Arts and Fine Arts in Paris, Jean Austruy settled in Saint-Marcellin in Isère, and taught drawing for nine years in this city as well. than at the School of Fine Arts and Industrial Arts in Grenoble. At the same time, he began making ceramics first in his garage, then in a workshop that he had built in 1947 in order to increase his production, as demand was high after the war. His wife Jacqueline, also a Fine Arts graduate, helps him in his production. They hire employees, and focus on the quality of their production. Jean Austruy produced numerous pieces of utilitarian ceramics, vases and pitchers.
