COCTEAU Jean (1889-1963)

COCTEAU Jean (1889-1963)
Novelist, painter, filmmaker… Cocteau is a complete artist. In 1957, his meeting with Marie-Madeleine Jolly and Philippe Madeline opened the way to ceramics. In 1958, he exhibited in their studio in Villefranche sur Mer. Until his death, more than 300 works were created there. On the vases, dishes and other pottery emerge lyre-women, angels, harlequins inspired by Greek mythology and a fairy world, through which all his poetic genius is expressed.
