CAPRON Roger (1922-2006)
Professor of Applied Arts, Capron was first interested in drawing. He discovered ceramic work in Vallauris before Picasso, and created the Callis workshop with Robert Picault. He founded his own workshop in 1952 and sold his collections in particular in the United States at the Saks Fifth Avenue department store. He received awards in numerous international exhibitions in Milan, Brussels, Cannes, etc. From 1963, he gradually abandoned shaped pieces for decorative tiles used in architecture: wall panels, building lobbies, stores. From the 1980s, he turned to unique pieces and Raku sculptures. Bibliography: “French ceramics of the 50s” by Pierre Staudenmeyer, Norma Editions.
